چکیده

A Hadamard-transform spectrometer has been used to obtain a spectrum of Jupiter from 880 cm(-1) to 770cm(-1) Three ammonia absorption features stand out at 870 cm(-1), 851 cm(-1), and 833 cm(-1). The general shape of the spectrum implies an atmosphere with a monotonically decreasing temperature profile up to the 125 K level. In addition, transmission profiles of the earth's atmosphere were taken between 16 microm and 25 microm for five consecutive nights under varying amounts of atmospheric water and air mass. There are many saturated lines, but nightly variations are constant and agree well with a theoretical profile. These results show that the Hadamard-transform technique is a useful method for obtaining astronomical spectra.

Exoplanet atmospheres: A theoretical outlook

With over two dozen exoplanet atmospheres observed today, the field of exoplanet atmospheres is solidly established. The highlights of exoplanet atmosphere studies include: detection of molecular spectral features; constraints on atmospheric vertical temperature structure; detection of day-night temperature gradients; and a new numerical approach to atmosphere temperature and abundance retrieva...

Properties of the I Deep Atmospheres of the Planets from Radioastronomical

Our knowledge of the composition and physical properties of planetary atmospheres is impotiant for the understanding of the origin and evolution of the planets themselves, as well as for providing a comparative basis for understanding the Earth”s atmosphere. The physical conditions of planetary atmospheres vary widely from place to place within a given atmosphere and from planet to planet. Cons...

A comparison of the atmospheres of Jupiter and Saturn: deep atmospheric composition, cloud structure, vertical mixing, and origin.

We present our current understanding of the composition, vertical mixing, cloud structure and the origin of the atmospheres of Jupiter and Saturn. Available observations point to a much more vigorous vertical mixing in Saturn's middle-upper atmosphere than in Jupiter's. The nearly cloud-free nature of the Galileo probe entry site, a 5-micron hotspot, is consistent with the depletion of condensa...

Applications of Hadamard transform to gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry.

Successful application of the Hadamard transform (HT) technique to gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) is described. Novel sample injection devices were developed to achieve multiple sample injections in both GC and LC instruments. Air pressure was controlled by an electromagnetic valve in GC, while a syringe pump and Tee connector we...

Detecting and removing data artifacts in Hadamard transform ion mobility-mass spectrometry measurements.

Applying Hadamard transform multiplexing to ion mobility separations (IMS) can significantly improve the signal-to-noise ratio and throughput for IMS coupled mass spectrometry (MS) measurements by increasing the ion utilization efficiency. However, it has been determined that fluctuations in ion intensity as well as spatial shifts in the multiplexed data lower the signal-to-noise ratios and app...
